Inside the game
SPFL scouting
Years spent watching live football week in, week out — Premiership fixtures, lower-league grounds and youth pitches across Scotland, filing reports that shaped recruitment decisions.
About
Ex-SPFL scout and Scottish football analyst. Bringing an insider’s perspective on Scottish football to broadcasters, podcasts and digital audiences.
Joe Quinn built his career inside Scottish football's recruitment side, working as a scout in the SPFL. That meant standing on cold terraces and in tight main stands, watching players in the flesh rather than through a clipped montage — and forming judgements that clubs acted on.
Scouting teaches you to look past the obvious. The best player on the ball isn't always the one who wins a match. Joe's work centred on the detail: movement off the ball, character under pressure, and whether a player's game would travel to a higher level.
He now brings that perspective to the microphone — punditry and analysis that explains the Scottish game to fans without dumbing it down or dressing it up.

The craft
Assessing footballers without the safety net of highlight reels: temperament, decision-making, physical profile and how a player copes when a game turns against them.
Now
Translating that scouting lens into television, radio, podcast and digital content — clear, honest and rooted in what actually happens on the pitch.
